Hawthorn has recalled an experienced trio to its squad ahead of Sunday’s match-up against Gold Coast.
Jack Gunston and Ben McEvoy have been named in the 26-man squad after both missing the GWS clash with injury, while Jarryd Roughead is a certain starter after announcing his retirement earlier this week.
The three premiership players would be a huge boost to the Hawks line-up as the side looks to keep its slim finals hopes alive with a win over the Suns.
Young pair Jack Scrimshaw and Harry Morrison round out the five inclusions to the extended squad after both performed strongly for Box Hill over the past fortnight.
GM – Football Graham Wright said McEvoy and Gunston will look to confirm their respective availabilities at training tomorrow.
“We are hopeful Ben and Jack are able to both prove their fitness ahead of the final team selection tomorrow night,” Wright said.
“Sunday is an important game not only in the context of our season but also giving fans the chance to give Roughy a strong send-off.
“I’m sure the boys will be keen to put in a strong performance for a bloke that has had such a massive impact on our club.”
Young forward Mitch Lewis has been left out of the squad after failing to overcome shoulder soreness.
The final team to take on Gold Coast will be announced on Friday at 5pm.
At the second-minute mark of the second quarter on Sunday, Hawthorn fans will stand together to farewell our four-time premiership champion Jarryd Roughead.
Hawthorn will also host its inaugural Inclusion Match this weekend.
The match has been designed to make the football a safe, supportive and fun environment for a broader cross-section of society.
