After narrowly missing out on a premiership medal in 2018, Claire Dyett is gearing up for a strong second season at the Hawks.

Having played in her first intraclub for the year on Saturday, Dyett said she was happy to be back after a long pre-season.

“The rain was atrocious, but it was awesome to get out out there and finally have a hit around.

“It was good to get our structures into place and just play Hawks footy and see how all the new girls went.”

Nearing the end of a long pre-season, Dyett said it was good to put into practice the new skills they've been honing.

“The main ideas were to just be brave and to fail harder. Particularly to fail harder because we’re not going to improve if we just play it safe.”

With it being Dyett’s second year at the Hawks, she had some personal goals for the match itself and the season ahead.

“I'd like to play more of a leadership role within the forward line and to get my hands on the footy more, which I found I did pretty well today. I’ve had a really solid pre-season and it’s exciting to be heading into my second season at Hawks this year.”
