What to expect
Brisbane has been ruthless at the selection table following its one-point loss at the hands of Fremantle, leaving four names out of the side that went down to the Dockers including experienced duo Ryan Lester and Josh Walker.
It reflects a new-look Lions outfit that will no longer settle for honourable losses.
The Lions currently sit sixth on the AFL ladder and their season has included impressive wins over the likes of West Coast, Port Adelaide and Adelaide.
Their record at home has also been a key area of improvement, winning four of their five appearances at the Gabba.
With six players averaging at least a goal per game, the Lions are an offensive force on their day, ranking fourth in scoring across the competition.
Chris Fagan’s side doesn’t mind having a shoot-out with its opposition, backing its wealth of scoreboard threats, but this does mean, on the flipside, that they can get scored against the other way.
They might rank fourth for scores for, but they also rate as the fifth-worst side when it comes to conceding scores.
Player to watch
Charlie Cameron is the most potent of the Lions.
Averaging 1.8 goals per game, Cameron has been outstanding so far this year – but it could have easily been so much better.
The former Crow has also kicked 20 behinds to go along with his 18 majors, highlighting just how many shots on goal he has been able to generate.
If the Lions are going to overcome the Hawks, you get the feeling the 24-year-old will have a big part to play.
