Hawthorn CEO Justin Reeves is set for a chilly encounter in Round 14 when he takes part in the Vinnie’s CEO Sleepout at UTAS Stadium.
Taking place on June 21 at 10 different locations across the country, the Vinnies CEO Sleepout raises essential funds for the St Vincent de Paul Society, who help Australians that are experiencing homelessness.
Held on one of the coldest nights of the year, a number of CEO’s, business owners and community and government leaders will spend the night outdoors in little more than a sleeping bag and beanie, to raise much-needed funds for this worthy cause.
“The Vinnies CEO Sleepout in Tasmania is a wonderful community initiative that I am really proud to be involved in,” Reeves said.
“Homelessness is unfortunately an ongoing issue and whilst braving the cold for one night may seem like a challenge, for thousands of Australians, this is their reality every night.”
With the sleepout taking place on the Thursday night before the Hawks’ Round 14 clash against the Gold Coast Suns, Reeves is looking forward to being involved in such a meaningful community initiative in Tasmania.
“Every single donation counts and it would be great to see the Hawthorn family rally behind this worthy cause. Any amount, big or small, goes a long way in helping Vinnies provide much-needed support to people who are less fortunate than ourselves.”
In 2017, the sleepout raised $5.6 million which provided 689,819 beds and 1,590,554 meals for Australians experiencing homelessness, as well as a number of other support programs and services. This year’s goal is $6.4 million, to help put an end to the cycle of homelessness click here to donate.
