A fast-finish from the Hawthorn VFLW side was not enough to overcome a strong Collingwood outfit, as the Magpies prevailed by seven points at Box Hill City Oval on Saturday.
The loss is the Hawks’ first of the season, while Collingwood remain undefeated and in second place on the VFLW ladder.

Hawthorn VFLW Senior Coach Paddy Hill believes his side can take a lot of things from the loss.
“Every time you lose a game like that it is a great learning experience,” Hill said.
“We challenge our players to go out there, make mistakes and learn from them.”
The Hawks did not kick their first goal of the game until Emily Gilder booted one midway through the third quarter.
“Our effort and intensity at the start of the game wasn’t up to scratch,” Hill reflected.
“We probably let our club down a little bit and we’re not overly happy about that.”
But Hill was quick to dismiss that his team’s first defeat will cause panic amongst the ranks as his side remains in fourth position.
“Losing a game at this stage of the year isn’t fatal.
“It’s not going to hurt our chances of being successful later in the year but it certainly is a good wake-up call to us that we need to be on edge all of the time.”
Following the loss against her former AFLW teammates, 200-gamer Lou Wotton says the Hawks will learn and grow from the defeat.
"We're always looking for opportunities to learn," Wotton said after the match.
"We'll take a lot out of today's game. We did match it with them for the 10 minutes that we really, really put in our energy and intensity.
"We'll go back and review this game and we'll learn a lot from it."
