Shaun Burgoyne is set to give the Hawks a significant boost should he return to the side for this weekend’s clash with St Kilda.
The versatile veteran has missed the last three games with a hamstring injury sustained during the Hawks’ win over Geelong, ending a streak of 107 consecutive games for the Hawks, and is set to be a crucial addition to the side as they look to bounce back from a 28-point loss to the Kangaroos.
The 35-year old will likely strengthen the Hawks’ scoring power up forward after spending Round 1 and much of the pre-season in the attacking half of ground, with his composure and nous around goal a crucial addition, particularly in the absence of teammates Cyril Rioli and Paul Puopolo.

The man dubbed ‘Silk’ has proven to be a match-winner in front of goal since joining the Hawks ahead of the 2010 season, with his three goals against Geelong, including the match winner, in the 2013 preliminary final helping to kick-start the Hawks’ run of three consecutive premierships.
Burgoyne was again important in the side’s Round 1 win earlier this year, kicking two goals from 14 disposals, and is set to play his 350th AFL game in Round 13 this season, as well as his 200th club game for Hawthorn in Round 20, in which he’ll be the first indigenous player to do so.
