The Hawks will look to rectify their last-quarter fadeouts this week despite emerging victorious from their opening two games for the first time since 2014.
The side has lost its final quarters to Collingwood and Geelong by five and 17 points respectively, with the Cats very nearly overcoming a 25-point deficit in the last term in their Easter Monday clash, while the Pies also got to within 22 points of the Hawks after trailing by 38 at three quarter time.
Wingman Ricky Henderson told SEN on Tuesday morning that the Hawks will look to sharpen that area of their game ahead of their meeting with reigning premiers Richmond at the MCG on Sunday.
“We’ll look at that this week because it kind of happened last week with Collingwood as well,” Henderson said.
“I think we just have to handle the situation a little bit better and use the ball a little bit better than what we did late in the game.”

Fellow midfielder Isaac Smith echoed the sentiment, saying that while the Hawks’ defensive work had improved markedly on 2017, the side had to work on minimizing the opposition’s ability to score consecutive goals.
“We thought probably in patches we defended really well but there were certainly patches where we let Geelong get a run on,” Smith said.
“We probably gave away some easy goals at certain stages during the game but it’s certainly a lot better than it was last year.”
