Four-time premiership star Jordan Lewis has today been awarded Life Membership of the AFL.
The 31-year-old was inducted after having reached a total of 308 AFL games, that included 264 games with Hawthorn between 2005-2016, 19 games for Melbourne in 2017 and 25 pre-season games across both clubs.
He was announced alongside nine other prominent AFL personalities, including Rex Hunt, Mike Fitzpatrick and Michael Long.
Lewis came to the Hawks via Pick 7 in the lucrative 2004 AFL draft, a year that also saw Jarryd Roughead (Pick 2) and Lance Franklin (Pick 5) arrive at the club.
He made his debut in Round 3 the following year, managing 19 games in his maiden season.
The gutsy midfielder went onto to play in the 2008, 2013, 2014 and 2015 premiership sides, while also winning a Peter Crimmins Medal and an All Australian selection in 2014. He was awarded life membership at the Hawks in 2012.
Lewis was traded to Melbourne at the end of the 2016 season, where he was immediately inducted into the club’s leadership group and made 19 appearances in the blue and red in 2017.
He is set to celebrate his official 300 games milestone (which doesn’t take into account pre-season games) in Round 17 this year.
The Hawthorn Football Club wishes to congratulate Lewis for receiving AFL life membership, and thanks the entire Lewis family for their significant contributions to the club over the past 13 years.
