Box Hill has set up a Preliminary Final date with Williamstown, after defeating Geelong by 29 points at Stannards Stadium on Sunday.

The Hawks burst out of the blocks in the opening term to open up a 23-point quarter time lead and never looked back from there.

James Cousins

“Pretty similar to last week, his workrate was outstanding and his pressure around the contest was terrific with seven clearances. He, along with Andrew Moore, has been our leading clearance player. He didn’t hit the scoreboard this week but he set up others.” CN

Kaiden Brand

“He had a couple of marks from the opposition’s boot. He played on that last line of defence really well. They’re not really blessed with any taller forwards so he had to play a bit oversized but he did it really well. He accumulated disposals as well, which is really good. Seven rebound 50s for him as well, so I thought he was really strong in the back half.” CN

Teia Miles

“It was the way in which he was able to get us disposals which was really good. His workrate was terrific. He was able to run and create from the back half for us with seven rebound 50s. He was getting up and down the ground pretty well. His defensive stuff has come a long way as well, since playing AFL I think that is something that has really improved. But no doubt his offensive run was really damaging.” CN

Marc Pittonet

“He had a really good battle with Zac Smith. I thought Smith probably won the hit-out battle but they were both very influential when the ball hit the deck as well. Pitto took a couple of really nice contested marks and had six tackles as well. He has a big challenge ahead of him this week but he will look forward to that.” CN

“He had some really strong spoils. His defensive actions have improved out of sight this year. His ball-use is always quite good, he went at 88% on the weekend. But it is his defensive actions that are really standing out for me at the moment.” CN

“Willsmore played on a wing. He can be quite damaging with his long leg. His workrate has been his focus and for him to kick two goals from a wing shows that. For him to also get involved as much as he did from a wing, where some can get a bit starved on that ground, that was really good.” CN

“The great thing about O’Brien’s game was that he took another five marks from opposition boot. I think he had four the week before so he is in some really good form and reading the flight of the ball really well.” CN

“He didn’t hit the scoreboard this week which is unlike Mitch but what he did do was be a real marking option for us around the ground. He took eight marks with a couple of them contested. He also had seven inside 50s so he gave others a turn and kicking the goals and I thought he was pretty influential despite not hitting the scoreboard.” CN

Kieran Lovell

“He played on-ball and a little bit forward. He can probably provide a little bit more than what he did but he battled manfully. He’ll look to try and get his hands on the ball a bit more this week.” CN

“As per usual, he played across all lines but predominantly forward. He is a bigger body so we love it when he gets in a contested situation as he is really good with his one-on-one work for a smaller player.” CN

“I thought he was really influential. He’s been playing this small forward role and he kicked a goal and set up a few others. He is looking comfortable forward of the ball and he is becoming really important for us especially with that forward pressure as well.” CN

“He was more influential than his stats might suggest. He was very dangerous in the forward line. His chase pressure and ability to harass was really good. I thought he played a terrific game.” CN

“He is another young guy that is really starting to impress. He is still learning but his ability to back up his efforts, first, second and third. He thrives on the contest and he can use the ball really well.” CN

“He was probably one of those ones playing on the wing who couldn’t really get himself in the game too much. Given the quality of the player, we’d like to get his hands on the footy a bit more than his 11 disposals. But he played a sacrificial role for us with his ability to spread the opposition for us and he did end up with three score assists.” CN

“Rossy is not a high-disposal type player but he can certainly still have an impact. He uses his body really well even though he is quite slight. His contested work is pretty good and he usually finishes with a goal, which he did again, so that was good.” CN
