Hawks CEO Justin Reeves says the club has landed the perfect candidates in Jason Burt and Graeme Wright to fill their respective new positions.
The Hawks announced on Tuesday that current football operations boss, Burt, had been promoted to a newly created role of General Manager – People, Culture and Integrity, with recruiting boss Graham Wright also named as the club’s new General Manager – Football.
Speaking to SEN on Tuesday morning, Reeves said that despite a wide ranging search, both Burt and Wright were the best people for the roles.
“We went out and we looked for the best possible person for that (new role) and funnily enough the best possible person for that role was within our own ranks and it was Jason Burt who was our previous football manager,” Reeves revealed.
“Again (with the GM – Football position) we had a look out, looking round.
“(But) Graham’s amazing experience and his standing in the game and his standing within the club, and his respect within the club and some of the roles he’s already fulfilled, had him as the perfect candidate.
“So, it was actually a win-win, perfect result for all of us.”
The changes also mean that Mark McKenzie will step up for the Hawks into the National Recruiting Manager position.
CEO Reeves also gave an update on the club’s move to Dingley, which he says is making good progress.
“Yeah still moving along, I think as I’ve said previously it’s a long-term project for us.
“The most important thing for us is to get the funding right… but it’s moving in the right way and no doubt that we will get there in due course.”
