The Hawks’ women’s team have completed their first hit out under the Hawthorn banner, emerging 15-point victors over the Southern Saints in Saturday morning’s practice match.
Despite the low scoring affair, Hawthorn’s first performance on the Waverley Park surface was solid, finishing with three goals and four behinds to the Saints’ one goal one.
Pip Peschke was impressive, roving through traffic before booting a long, running goal to get her side on the scoreboard, while Emily McIlvena also found plenty of the football.
The Hawks will play two more practice games, against Carlton in a fortnight and Richmond the following week, before kicking off their 2018 campaign against Essendon at Windy Hill on the 5th of May.
