Harry Morrison is set to become Hawthorn’s fifth debutant in 2017, after being named for the Round 23 clash against Western Bulldogs.
A country kid from Benalla, Morrison spent his TAC Cup days playing in the backline for the Murray Bushrangers, before being selected by Hawthorn with Pick 74 in the 2016 National Draft.
The medium-sized defender has enjoyed a promising start in his first year at the club, averaging 20 disposals, seven marks and four tackles a game across his 16 outings for Box Hill.
Arguably his best output came in Box Hill’s Round 14 win over Werribee, when he moved into the midfield and mustered an impressive 30 disposals, 11 tackles and seven inside 50s to help his side to a 45-point victory.
Footballing prowess seems to run in Morrison's family; he is the cousin of Brisbane Lion's midfielder Tom Rockliff, and the godson of late Hawthorn great Ken Judge.
On Friday night, Morrison will become the 917th player to pull on the brown and gold guernsey, and the 18th Hawk to don the No.35.
