The Box Hill Hawks are maintaining their growth right up to the end of their inaugural VFL Women’s season.
The Hawks went down to Diamond Creek by just seven points in Round 12, setting a record high score. Box Hill’s dogged four-quarter performance put not just Diamond Creek on notice but all of their opponents. When the Hawks come up against Melbourne Uni in their Round 13 clash at Box Hill City Oval on Saturday, the odds will be further in their favour than anyone could have believed at the start of the season.
We have another feel-good story at selection as Adrianna Piva becomes the 37th VFLW Box Hill player. Piva’s season has been cruelled by an ankle injury and she has been rewarded for her long, hard fight to play her first game at VFLW level. Nuggetty forward Gab Mahoney is back in the side after being named on the bench. Abbey Tanner was a late withdrawal against the Creekers but retains her place in Round 13, as does debutant Kara Henderson.
