Alastair Clarkson is set to become Hawthorn’s most experienced coach of all-time when he coaches the Hawks for the 300th time on Saturday against Fremantle.
Clarkson will pass the great John Kennedy Snr, who coached the club in 299 games between 1957 and 1976.
The 30th man to coach Hawthorn, Clarkson is considered the most successful Hawthorn coach ever with four premierships to his name.
Clarkson began his coaching career at Hawthorn in 2005.
Primarily tasked with rebuilding a club that had missed finals in each of the previous three seasons, Clarkson’s first two years at the helm returned losing records, finishing 14th and 11th respectively.
The following year in 2007, Clarkson’s coaching expertise came to the fore as the Hawks burst up the ladder to make a semi-final.
2008 was a season that Hawks fans will never forget, with their side overcoming the superpower that was Geelong to claim their first premiership win in 17 years.

After a lacklustre year in 2009, Clarkson has since led the Hawks to finals appearances in each of the next seven seasons.
From 2013 to 2015, Clarkson coached the Hawks to a rare premiership threepeat, only the second occurrence in the history of the game since it became nationwide.
Clarkson stands as the only coach to have won four AFL premierships, with only four coaches having won more premierships in the history of the VFL/AFL.
By reaching 300 games, Clarkson becomes just the 14th coach to reach the milestone and ranks second for winning percentage in that illustrious group behind Tom Hafey.
