Hawthorn Football Club’s Looking After ME program has begun in approximately one third of schools throughout Tasmania in 2017.
The primary school program aims to educate students about the importance of good nutrition and physical activity, is free for Tasmanian schools, and complements the Tasmania Department of Health and Human Services, Move Well Eat Well program.
Aimed at students from grade 3-6, schools are provided with an entire online unit of work that can be completed sequentially or individually to suit the needs of different schools and students.
Once registered, teachers gain access to lesson introductions, curriculum links, lesson resources, learning outcomes and activity sheets. There is even a fun interactive student page!
60 Tasmanian schools are currently registered for the program in 2017 with hopefully more to join the Looking After ME team throughout the school year.
Looking After ME also has a Victorian leg of the program which 31 schools are currently registered for in 2017.
In Victoria, the program is facilitated across three weeks with a focus on educating students about making positive choices regarding their nutritional health, mental health and physical activity levels.
