The Hawks will likely come up against former captain Luke Hodge for the first time in Round 9 next year.
The clash, to be held at the Gabba, will mark the first meeting between Hawthorn and Brisbane since Hodge headed north at the end of the 2017 season, following a decorated 305-game career in the brown and gold.
It will also be the second-time Hawthorn Coach Alastair Clarkson goes head to head with former colleague and good friend Chris Fagan, as the former Hawks’ football boss heads into his second season as Brisbane head coach.

To add further intrigue to the fixture, the Round 9 clash will be just the second time the Hawks have played at the Gabba in the past 10 years. Their only other recent encounter at the ground occurred in Round 10 2016, when Hawthorn emerged 48-point victors.
The Hawks have played at the Gabba on 18 occasions since 1981 (13 vs Brisbane Lions, four vs Brisbane Bears, one vs Essendon), winning six.
Brisbane is one of five teams Hawthorn will take on twice in 2018, with their second clash to take place at UTAS Stadium in Round 17.
