When Hawthorn drafted James Worpel with the 45th pick of last Friday night’s draft, he became the fourth James on Hawthorn’s list alongside James Frawley, James Sicily and James Cousins.
Ben (McEvoy and Stratton) and Ryan (Burton and Schoenmakers) are the only other two names with multiple representation in the current Hawks’ squad.
But the current quartet of James’ on the list is not an accurate reflection of the prevalence of the name throughout Hawthorn history.
Only five James’ have ever pulled on a brown and gold jumper for a senior VFL/AFL game, with three of them presently training at the Ricoh Centre.
James Morrissey, who played 106 games for the Club from 1984 to 1993, leads the way for his name.
While Frawley is next in pursuit of the mantle with 48 games since he arrived at the club in 2015, and Sicily not far behind with 44 games to his name over the same period.
Peter, John and Michael are some Hawthorn names that have been readily associated with success.

The most common name to have pulled on a Hawthorn guernsey is John, of which there have been 26.
Some of the notable Johns include Club legend Kennedy Senior, four-time premiership player Kennedy Junior, Brownlow Medallist Platten and goalkickers Peck and Hendrie.
20 Peters have played a game for Hawthorn, with Crimmins, Knights, Hudson and Schwabb amongst the name’s most successful candidates.
Among that four-Pete (see what we did there?) are 740 games and 1197 career goals.
Michael is also a name that has a commonplace in the Hawthorn record books, with Michael Tuck having played the most games for the club (426) and Michael Moncrieff having booted the fourth greatest number of majors for the Hawks (629).
