Every match seems to bring our VFL Women’s side closer to victory yet that glorious maiden win still eludes our grasp.

Our Round 5 clash against 2016 finalists the Eastern Devils ended in a tough 20-point loss, despite the fact that scoring shots ended in a dead heat.

For the third match in a row, Box Hill were in the hunt at the start of the fourth quarter but couldn’t come home with the four points. Despite dominating play for much of the final stanza (the Hawks won Inside 50s 13 to five), inefficiency in the forward half cost Box Hill dearly.

The Hawks will have no margin for error when they take to the field against Darebin this Sunday at Northcote Park from 11am. Whilst the Falcons sit in fifth position with three wins after a merely steady start, they are the four-time reigning premiers and boast no fewer than 16 players from the AFLW season with four marquee and three priority selections.

After this week, the Hawks will truly know how far they have come in 2017.
