The Hawks are set to cross the Tasman Sea this December, as they complete their pre-season camp abroad for the first time since 2013.
The playing group will head to Queenstown, New Zealand on the 4th of December for five days of intense high performance training, followed by a three-day hike through the Peel Forest.
GM - Football Operations Jason Burt says the decision to travel overseas was made in a bid to “shake things up” ahead of the 2018 season.
“We want to give the guys a bit of a circuit breaker,” said Burt.
“We’ve travelled to Mooloolaba for four of our last five pre-season camps, and while we love it up there, we believe New Zealand will offer a totally different experience for both the players and coaches.
“We’ll head out into the wilderness for a couple of days, which will not only give the guys an opportunity to bond with their new teammates, but also allow them to create some pretty special memories that they can reflect on in the season ahead.”
The trip will mark Hawthorn’s second pre-season camp in New Zealand, with the club having visited the country in 2010.
