When Tom Mitchell pulls on the boots on Sunday afternoon, he will be preparing to play his 50th consecutive AFL game.
The prolific midfielder has played every game since Round 21 2015, when he missed one match with an eye injury.
19 of those games have come in the brown and gold this year, while 31 - including the 2016 Grand Final – were played in the red and white.
His 49 games currently places him 25th in the most consecutive games by a current player. North Melbourne’s Sam Gibson is leading the way, having played 127 games without missing, while Hawthorn’s Shaun Burgoyne is third – sitting at 102 consecutive matches.

His 49 consecutive matches are made all the more impressive by the fact that Mitchell has averaged a staggering 31 disposals per game.
Over his 84 career games, Mitchell has averaged 27.50 disposals, which is currently the highest career average in AFL/VFL history.
After posting another 35 touches during Hawthorn’s Round 20 loss to Richmond, it doesn’t look like the Hawks’ ball magnet will be slowing down any time soon.
This is my weekly Tom Mitchell appreciation tweet. Pretty sure he just had 10 touches in 5 mins. Missed the target once. #AFLTigersHawks
