Shiels shines
In game number 150, Liam Shiels was outstanding, gathering 25 possessions, eight tackles and one goal.
The vice captain led from the front all day, and was pivotal in the early stages of the match as the Hawks worked to gain the midfield ascendancy.
Having earned five Brownlow votes over his last three games against the Lions, the 26-year old did his chances of extending that impressive record no harm.
Injury woes
The Hawks' third win of the season was left with a sour taste as important duo Cyril Rioli and Ben Stratton were unable to return to the field for the final quarter of Saturday's game.
Both players appeared severely hampered by knee injuries, with Hawks coach Alastair Clarkson suggesting post-match that Rioli's concern looks to be a "PCL mechanism".
The premiership pair will await results of scans on Monday to ascertain their potential time on the sidelines.

Henderson the goal kicker
Ricky Henderson was an unlikely goal kicking source on the weekend as he slotted three goals for the Hawks.
It was Henderson's first game back in the senior side after spending a fortnight in the reserves.
Henderson, who was picked to replace the injured Grant Birchall, would have pleased the coaching staff with his strong performance, which also included 21 touches, nine marks and four tackles.
Light at the end of the tunnel
Having endured a winless opening month to the season which saw them hit the bottom of the ladder, the Hawks have now climbed to 14th as they continue to rectify their disappointing start to the year.
Saturday marked the Hawks' third win of 2017, ensuring that the side remained within touching distance of the top eight.
The Hawks now set their sights on Collingwood, who were gallant but ultimately overcome by the Giants on the weekend.
