HAWTHORN has notched its first win of the season, comfortably accounting for West Coast by 51 points at the MCG. 

After kicking the first goal, the Hawks were never headed as they cruised to the 19.11 (125) to 11.8 (74) victory.

Hawthorn's performance was in stark contrast to the first month, that included back-to-back losses by 86 points.

Cyril Rioli was back to his damaging best, while Tom Mitchell racked up plenty of touches and skipper Jarryd Roughead booted three goals, including the 500th of his career.

The loss continued West Coast's dismal record at the MCG, having won just one its past six matches at the venue.
