Hawthorn ruckman Jonathon Ceglar has signed a two-year contract extension to keep him at the club until the end of 2019.
The 26-year-old has played 50 games in the brown and gold and was enjoying career best form in 2016 before rupturing his ACL. Subsequently, Ceglar missed the Hawks 2016 finals campaign and the entire 2017 season.
Hawthorn Recruiting and List Manager Graham Wright says the club was delighted to extend Ceglar’s time at the Hawks and is looking forward to seeing him back on the field in 2018.
“It’s been a tough 12 months for Jon with injury but we are confident he can get back to his form of 2016 and be a real asset to us around the ground,” said Wright.
“He’s been working incredibly hard in his rehab and having him in the mix next season will add some great flexibility to our line-up.
“We’re really excited by the depth of our ruck division and look forward to seeing a variety of strong partnerships form between the likes of Ceglar, McEvoy and Pittonet.”
Ceglar joins Ryan Schoenmakers, Shaun Burgoyne, Ben McEvoy and Blake Hardwick on the list of Hawks to have re-signed with the club in the last month.
