IT'S no easy task picking the Hawks' best 22, so we passed over the responsibility to you, our fans.

And here's the team you voted for.

Key Defenders

Filling the three key defensive posts was an easy task for our fans, with Josh Gibson, James Frawley and Matt Spangher the unanimous selections.

With Brian Lake out of the picture, Frawley slots in at full back, leaving Gibson and Spangher to take centre half back and the third tall respectively.

2015 Peter Crimmins Medallist Josh Gibson was a unanimous selection in defence.

Medium/small defenders

First picked was Grant Birchall – who received an incredible 61 percent of the votes for the first medium/small defender role.

Ben Stratton, Shaun Burgoyne and Taylor Duryea also had the confidence of our fans.

Stratton slots into a back pocket, with Birchall and Burgoyne providing rebound off half back and Duryea coming off the interchange.

Ruckmen

With 78 percent of the votes, lock Ben McEvoy in for the number one ruckman position.

Jon Ceglar, who featured heavily at the start of last year, had strong support for the second position, claiming 69 percent of the votes.

Lock him in - 78 percent of voters had Ben McEvoy as their first-choice ruckman.

Midfielders

Experienced trio Sam Mitchell, Jordan Lewis and Luke Hodge were the first picked by our fans.

From there, it got interesting with the remaining three positions.

Isaac Smith, Bradley Hill and Billy Hartung all got their fair share of votes, as did Liam Shiels. With Smith also polling heavily as a forward, Hill and Shiels will take the wings, with Hartung providing the fresh legs off the bench.

Medium/small forwards

The votes were unanimous for the first three spots.

No surprises that Cyril Rioli was first picked – with a whopping 81 percent of the votes – followed by Luke Breust and Paul Puopolo.

Little separated James Sicily and Isaac Smith for the fourth medium/small forward role, but with Smith also getting a substantial amount of votes in the midfield, ‘Sis’ unfortunately finds himself as the first emergency.

No surprises here - Norm Smith Medallist Cyril Rioli was a lock up forward.

Key forwards

The fans saw no reason to change last year’s premiership setup, with Jarryd Roughead, Jack Gunston and Ryan Schoenmakers getting the nod, in that order.

With all three boasting a strong set shot and the mobility to provide a threat up the ground, it’s a dangerous combination of tall timber.
