Hawthorn Football Club have announced a community partnership with Life Education Victoria and Tasmania for 2016 and 2017.

Hawks forward Luke Breust recently took part in a filming session at the Ricoh Centre to create short vignettes which will introduce the Life Education programs in primary schools across the two states. Life Education delivers health programs which will reach over 160,000 children in more than 650 schools across the year.

CEO of Life Education Victoria and Tasmania Michelle Wood said Hawthorn's involvement and support of the program further engages and excites primary school children, encouraging connection with its vital messages.

“As an independent, not-for-profit organisation, we are proud that the Hawthorn Football club has chosen to partner with us. Their commitment to the health and wellbeing of the community at large, especially children is demonstrated in their decision to support Life Education Victoria and Tasmania,” said Wood.

“They are aligned to our messages and values, and they are keen to support us in our endeavours to keep children safe and well, empowering them with knowledge, so that they are able to make informed choices throughout their lives.”

Hawthorn CEO Stuart Fox also welcomed the partnership, stressing the importance of players understanding the social challenges currently being faced in the community.

"Our players have an important place in the community as role models. It is important they are aware of the social challenges many young people face and understand how their involvement in initiatives such as Life Ed can make a difference. Hawthorn and Life Ed share a number of fundamental values and we are delighted to be a partner of such an important organisation.”
