Holding the ball? Not holding the ball?
The man in the middle of the action in the dying seconds of the Hawks’ three-point win against Adelaide Crows says “not at all”.
Isaac Smith grabbed a loose ball inside the Crows’ attacking 50 with just seconds on the clock, and was tackled just before the final siren.
“The ball was in the air and someone had to go up and grab it, so I grabbed it and I punched it straight into the ground once they got me,” he told SEN1116.
“They haven’t been calling those holding the balls for a fair while.
“I definitely got a handball to it, I punched it straight into the ground.”
