ALL at Hawthorn Football Club send their heartfelt condolences to the family of one of Hawthorn’s most decorated servants, Ken Goddard, who passed away Sunday night.
Ken held an enormous passion for the Hawthorn Football Club and dedicated over 40 years of service to his beloved Hawks.
Goddard began working as a trainer at Hawthorn in 1962 and stood down as Head Trainer in 1998. He continued to assist his beloved Hawks at training and match day until 2007.
Early in 2008, Hawthorn Football Club history was made when Ken Goddard was inducted into Hawthorn’s Hall of Fame – the first Inductee who was not a former player, coach or club president.
Goddard was an essential contributor at Hawthorn for more than four decades, a man whose genial presence and wise council was just as valued as his gift for nursing muscles and limbs.
Until very recently Ken and his wife Joyce would visit the club to say ‘ hello’ and cast an eye over the new players, coaches and club that they supported so passionately.
Hawthorn will wear black armbands in Sunday’s Round 23 clash with Collingwood as a sign of respect to Ken and his family.
