HAWTHORN has re-signed key forward Jack Gunston for three more years.

The triple premiership player, who was set to come out of contract at season’s end, is now tied to the club until the end of 2019.

“We’re rapt that Jack has agreed to a contract extension for the next three years,” Hawthorn recruiting and list manager Graham Wright said.

“Jack has been a vital part of our team since joining us from Adelaide at the end of the 2011 season, playing in four grand finals and three premierships.”

The 24-year-old has been a constant for the Hawks since crossing from the Crows after 14 games, playing 92 club matches over the past five seasons.

Renowned as one of the competition’s most accurate set-shot kickers, Gunston’s re-signing is an important move for the future of the Hawks’ forward line.

The sharp-shooter kicked 57 goals last season, kicking three or more goals on 12 occasions, including the grand final win against West Coast Eagles, when he returned from injury to contribute four majors.

“Jack has kicked 206 goals for the club – including 161 across 2013, 2014 and 2015 – was our leading goal-kicker last year and has been in our top 10 best and fairest for the past three years,” Wright said.

“He is still only 24, part of our emerging leaders group and we feel his best footy is still ahead of him.”

Jack Gunston will be jumping on Facebook from 10.30am today for a Q&A session to talk about his decision to sign on and answer your questions.
