A fantastic performance. Gunston, Mitchell, Breust among the stars in a 60-point win against the Roos.
The Rundown
Hawthorn proved a class above North Melbourne the last time the two sides met, in Round 5 last year at Etihad Stadium.
After a fiery opening term, the Hawks kept their composure to run away with a ten-goal win, despite only kicking one goal in the second quarter.
Twelve second-half goals ensured victory against the Roos, with the Hawks yet again showing how many avenues to goal they possess, with nine different players kicking at least one major.
The Star
Jack Gunston was the dominant forward on the ground for the night, not only kicking four goals, but also accumulating 23 disposals and 13 marks in an extremely productive display.
The Moment
Cyril Rioli burst through a pack at half back and after a couple of bounces spotted up Bradley Hill at half forward. Hill gave it Sam Mitchell who sold some candy to a North Melbourne defender and split the middle with a goal that put the result beyond doubt.
The Coach
“We needed to get away to a better start than we had in some of our other games and we were pleased that we were able to apply a little bit of scoreboard pressure this week.” – Alastair Clarkson
