COULD this week be the first time Hawthorn fields an unchanged line-up in 2016?
It’s a possibility.
After an injury-free match against Richmond on Sunday, the Hawks could play with the same 22 against Carlton at Aurora Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
GM – Football Operations Chris Fagan dispelled any doubts about skipper Luke Hodge’s fitness in this week’s Bupa Recovery Report, after he sat out the last 10 minutes against the Tigers.
If the Hawks opt for a change or more, it could be tactical.
Rebounding defender Angus Litherland was held over as an emergency for last week’s game, and could be in contention to return if the Hawks opt for another mobile backman.
At VFL level, hard-running Billy Hartung put his hand up for a recall with 29 disposals in a strong performance.
Will Langford also impressed at VFL level, picking up 22 disposals, while yet-to-debut defensive duo Teia Miles and Kurt Heatherley continued their strong form for Box Hill Hawks.
Rebounding defender Miles has been one of Box Hill’s most consistent performers this season, while key backman Heatherley hasn’t been far behind.
Tasmanian product Kieran Lovell was strong – especially in the first half – for Box Hill Hawks and might be in the frame to play his third AFL game, while three goals for fellow draftee Blake Hardwick might have him in the frame for an AFL debut.
