Update: April 21, 6.25pm
ADELAIDE has made one change for Friday night's clash.
Small forward Charlie Cameron returns to the side, with Wayne Milera making way due to injury.
What to expect
The Crows enjoyed a hard-fought win against Sydney last weekend, and in the process reaffirmed their credentials as a genuine top eight – and possibly top four – contender.
Although many thought the loss of Patrick Dangerfield over the off-season would hurt the Crows, a number of players have stepped up to take on more of the midfield load in his absence.
Under new coach Don Pyke, they are playing a game style which relies on the collective rather than a couple of superstars, and it has certainly paid dividends over the first four games of the season – their only loss coming against North Melbourne in Round 1.
Their forward line is as potent as any in the competition, with Taylor Walker, Josh Jenkins and Tom Lynch acting as marking targets, and the dangerous Eddie Betts humming around at ground level.
The Crows’ midfield, while not stacked with household names, matched Sydney’s undoubted prowess in that department last week, and was a big reason why the Crows were able to get over the line.
The Crows will want to put their best foot forward against the reigning premier tomorrow night – particularly after the Hawks got hold of them in their semi-final clash at the MCG last year.
Players to watch
Rory Sloane and Scott Thompson were crucial to the Crows’ victory last week, collecting 51 disposals, 12 clearances and a massive 20 tackles between them.
Stopping them winning the ball around the stoppages will be crucial in ensuring the Hawks get their hands on the ball first.
Eddie Betts (four goals) and Tom Lynch (three goals) have also been in good goal-kicking form, and the Hawthorn defence will have their work cut out trying to hold the dangerous Adelaide forward line.
Potential changes
The Crows have already confirmed that youngster Wayne Milera won’t make the trip to Melbourne, ruled out for a couple of weeks with a quadriceps injury.
This opens the door for the inclusion of another small forward, with Charlie Cameron and Riley Knight in contention to replace him. Midfielder Brad Crouch has also been ruled out for a second week with a hamstring injury.
