Hawthorn Football Club Director Richard Amos officially resigned today from his position on the club’s board to focus more on his business.
Amos, Managing Director of Royce Communications, has been involved with the club for over 14 years.
He was originally recruited to the Hawks in 1979 and played from 1980 to 1982. He later became a strategic communication advisor to the Hawthorn Board between 1996 and 1997.
Amos was elected to the board in 1998 where he served for two years until 2000, before again assuming the role from 2013 until 2016.
Amos was heavily involved in the club’s anti-merger movement in 1996, including the development of the Operation Payback campaign, early membership initiatives, and was part of the committee that negotiated the move from Waverley Park to the MCG.
After re-joining the board in 2013, he was instrumental in assisting with the development of Hawthorn’s first 'corporate brand’ and was part of the Commercial Operations Committee which oversaw membership, merchandise, sponsorship and marketing.
Hawthorn President Richard Garvey, said Amos has provided outstanding service and advice to the club during his time as a director.
“Richard has made an outstanding contribution to the Hawthorn Football Club over a 14-year period as a player, campaigner, advisor and director," Garvey said.
“We thank Richard for his service to Hawthorn and wish he and his family all the best in their future endeavours.”
