HAWTHORN Football Club lead singer Taylor Duryea has spoken out about the controversy surrounding the release of the band’s first single.
The club released a music-video advertising membership on Tuesday night, a parody of One Direction’s History, titled We got a whole lot of history.
It featured players Jordan Lewis, James Frawley, Isaac Smith, Taylor Duryea and Angus Litherland lip-syncing the words to the song.
Duryea said the players were disappointed with the response to the video, after overwhelmingly positive feedback from the club’s media and membership departments during the video’s production.
The video was intended to help the club break its membership record by signing up 73,000 members.
“Unfortunately our first foray into the music industry didn’t get quite the response we were after,” he said.
“We’ve been stitched up by the media department.”
But Duryea said the five-piece super-group may return in some shape or form in the future.
“We have decided to play out the season, before re-exploring our musical options at the end of 2016,” he said.
“We know we have plenty of musical talent within the group, and will be exploring all options.”
There will be no confirmation at this time about rumours relating to MeatLoaf being the face and voice of the club’s next membership campaign.
