HAWTHORN has made the decision not to nominate Ben Jarman as a father/son selection in the 2016 AFL draft.
Jarman qualifies for both Hawthorn and Adelaide under the father/son rule.
His father, Darren Jarman, played 109 games for the Hawks from 1991 to 1995 before 121 games for the Crows from 1996 to 2001.
Hawthorn Recruiting and List Manager Graham Wright said the club did not feel it was in a position to nominate Jarman.
"After careful consideration we have decided to not nominate Ben under the father/son rule," Wright said.
"Due to the lateness of our picks in the 2016 National Draft, which at this stage carry no points, we felt we could not commit to Ben.
"We have informed Ben, Darren and the Adelaide Football Club of our decision.
"We will still consider Ben like every other player when we have our selections in the national and rookie drafts."
The 173cm small forward performed consistently for South Australia at this year's NAB AFL Under-18 Championships.
