Hawthorn Football Club has temporarily suspended its football program in line with guidelines provided by the AFL in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
All Hawthorn-listed players will be on leave from the club until at least 4 May 2020. At this time the club anticipates an update from the AFL to outline further recommendations based on advice from the Government and relevant health authorities.
The club has retained a skeleton football department to ensure players still have access to the support and services they require during this period.
All players have been provided with an interim program and equipment to facilitate their training while is isolation.
Hawthorn continues to work with the league and clubs to develop a united approach for returning to play when Government and medical authorities advise it is safe to do so.
Over the break, players and staff will ensure Hawthorn members and fans remain connected via the club’s website and social channels.
