Roughy's run
Five years ago, nn the third day of the Hawks' Community Camp, Jarryd Roughead led a group of Hawks to support the annual Cancer Council Fun Run in Launceston.
Hawthorn was able to support a truly great cause with its presence at the event. Bradley Hill led all competitors in a very active and energetic warm-up, before being the pace-setter for the fun run’s first 50 metres!

Entering this match, Hawthorn sat third on the ladder, but the side wasn’t settled. The Hawks had lost two of their last three games and although these defeats were at the hands of two fellow top four sides in Geelong and St Kilda, this was the quality of opposition the side could expect in its imminent finals campaign.
There was further motivation for Hawthorn to make a return to the winners’ list, with Shane Crawford set to become just the sixth player in club history to play 300 games in the brown and gold.
The first half was somewhat bizarre with both sides struggling with inaccuracy and general scoring production. And while the same issues continued to haunt the Lions in the second half, the Hawks were a different outfit in the third and fourth terms as they added 13 goals to the Lions’ five.
Lance Franklin was best afield with six goals to his name while Stuart Dew was beginning to hit his straps, earning one Brownlow vote for his 25-possession performance.
The Tassie crowd gave a standing ovation as favourite son Shane Crawford was carried off by his teammates, in honour of the former captain's special milestone.

Brilliant Birch
Round 4 2013 vs Fremantle

Grant Birchall always seemed to save his best for in front of his adoring home crowd and his effort in this match-up against Fremantle in 2013 is exhibit A of just that.
The Tasmanian was simply stunning on this day, delivering one of the most complete performances of his star-studded career.
An All Australian the previous year, Birchall collected 37 disposals, 12 marks, six rebound 50s and a goal on his way to an obvious three Brownlow vote performance. The Hawks made relatively light work of the Dockers with the two sides destined to meet in a Grand Final some five months down the track.
Shaun Burgoyne (28 disposals and two goals) and Sam Mitchell (25 disposals) were among the other stand-outs for Hawthorn.
