Hawthorn CEO Justin Reeves says the club has no qualms with resuming its season at GMHBA Stadium against Geelong.
It was announced on Monday morning that the Hawks are set to venture down the highway to take on their arch-rivals for the first time since 2006.
But Reeves explained the club was unperturbed by the scheduling and looked forward to the challenge of facing the Cats on their home deck.
“Friday night against the Cats, it doesn’t get much more exciting than that for our return to footy," Reeves said.
“We can’t wait for the challenge of taking on the Cats and with the added element of excitement of getting to take them on at their home deck.
"I know our playing group and coaches also share the same thoughts."
Hawks set for a blockbuster clash in return to footy
The Hawks boast a strong record at GMHBA Stadium, having won nine of their past 12 games at the venue.
The June 12 match-up will mark 82 days between Rounds 1 and 2, as the Hawks look to “back up” their impressive Round 1 win over the Brisbane Lions.
