We’ve got all your injury information as we head into our long-awaited Round 2 clash against the Cats.

Hawthorn Vice Captain Jaeger O’Meara faces a race against the clock as he looks to prove his fitness ahead of the club's season restart on Friday night.

O'Meara sustained a minor fracture above his eyebrow in the squad's first week back into contact training.

Physical Performance Manager Luke Boyd says the midfielder's situation is a difficult one to manage.

"Jaeger is a tricky one, because if you went and looked at him train, he's training really well and moving really well," Boyd said.

"But, obviously he's had that facial fracture so we need to be really cautious with that.

"He's progressing really well but we will probably wait until the end of the week and make a decision closer to the game with Jaeger."

The break has certainly done some good for Blake Hardwick. Initially expected to miss up to 10 games, the defender is a chance to make his return as early as this Friday.

Young Hawk Changkuoth Jiath was the sole casualty from last week’s match simulation, as he left the ground with a hamstring injury.

Boyd said further assessment had been found the defender to have some hamstring overload.

"We want to take a reasonably cautious approach with this one, so we will bring him back into the ball program in the next couple of weeks - hopefully it shouldn't be too much longer than that."

It’s been a lengthy stint on the sidelines for Jarman Impey, but in another positive to emerge from the AFL shut down period, the exciting defender is now close to full fitness.

"The break was probably a bit of a blessing for him in that he has been able to look at getting a few more games in than he otherwise would have.

"He is back in the ball program with the boys with some slight modifications.

"We're expecting him to be available at some point around mid-July which will be pretty exciting to see Jars out there."

Paul Puopolo has recovered from a fractured jaw sustained in Round 1, and will be available for selection for Friday’s game.

Mitch Lewis missed the Hawks’ Round 1 win with an ankle complaint, but he’ll also be putting his hand up this week.

That’s all the injury news for now. Get excited for another instalment of the Greatest Show in Football this Friday. Cats v Hawks. It’s going to be a good one.
