Hawthorn will be desperate to redeem itself after its 61-point loss to Geelong last Friday night and fans' eyes will first be on the response of the match committee.

The Hawks were soundly beaten in the midfield battle against the Cats, an area that Jaeger O'Meara could have a major positive impact on if he is to return.

Speaking earlier this week, Physical Performance Manager Luke Boyd said he was hoping O'Meara would prove his fitness ahead of Round 3.

"The plan this week is to get him back into some contact work which will hopefully see him available to play on Thursday night," Boyd said.

In addition to O'Meara's potential return, the selection committee could look deeper into the list's stocks ahead of Thursday night.

The Hawks named Jack Scrimshaw, Harry Jones, Michael Hartley and Mitch Lewis as emergencies in Round 2.

Hawks star Jack Gunston has conceded last Friday night's performance does not sit comfortably with the playing group

Each of the quartet would offer a different impact to the Hawks make-up on Thursday night if called upon.

After an impressive Round 1 outing against the Lions, it will simply come down to how greatly the match committee wish to act on a more disappointing follow-up showing.
