Mitchell, who was substituted out of Saturday's 145-point win over St Kilda with a hamstring injury will miss up to eight weeks, while Lake is expected to miss the next 3-4 weeks with a calf complaint.
Hawthorn General Manager - Football Operations, Chris Fagan confirmed Mitchell will be missing for up to two months but will not require surgery.
"Mitchell has an intra-muscular hamstring tendon injury," he told hawthornfc.com.au
"It means he'll be out of action for the next eight weeks."
Scans, meanwhile, confirmed that Lake could miss up to a month with a calf strain sustained in the third quarter of Saturday’s game.
The Hawks defender pulled up short when attacking the football before hobbling from the ground for treatment from the Club's medical staff.
"We expect that it'll be somewhere between 3-4 weeks before he can play again," Fagan said.
Lake has played two game since returning from suspension and injury this season.
