HAWTHORN star Jarryd Roughead appears likely to miss the Round 10 blockbuster against Port Adelaide after he was handed a one-match ban for rough conduct by the Match Review Panel on Monday.
Roughead bumped Sydney's Ben McGlynn during the third quarter of Friday night's 19-point loss to the Swans as both players approached the ball but the Hawthorn forward appeared to make high contact with the former Hawk.
Due to a previous poor record, Roughead’s sanction cannot be reduced to a reprimand with an early plea.
The incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level One Offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction.
Roughead also has 93.75 carry-over points, which increases the penalty to 218.75 points and a two-match ban.
An early plea reduces that by 25 per cent to 164.06 points and a one-match ban.
If Roughead chooses to appeal the ban, he is risking a two-week suspension.
Roughead and the Club have until 11am Tuesday morning to decide whether to accept or challenge the sanction.
