INJURED Gold Coast ruckman Tom Nicholls says his team is looking to get a ‘massive scalp’ away from home and his eyes are set on Hawthorn.

The Hawks battle the Suns at their home away from home on Saturday, at Aurora Stadium in Tasmania, where they’ve won their past nine games in a row.

Hawthorn love playing in Tasmania and have made it a fortress away from the MCG but the Suns, Nicholls says, will be hoping to secure a surprise victory.

He says the team’s confidence in playing away from Metricon Stadium is growing as the young players become more accustomed to playing in a hostile environment.

“We’ll be looking to get a massive scalp on the road,” Nicholls told Gold Coast’s website.

“I think with our game plan, it’s all coming together really nicely at the moment so we’re looking for to it.”

The Suns are coming off their best win yet, a 40-point victory over Geelong at Metricon Stadium last Saturday, with their confidence sky-high heading into this weekend’s clash.

Nicholls, who has played 15 career games, was among the Suns’ better players in the 99-point loss in Round 4, says the side is in a better position now to take on last year’s premiers.

“After last week’s win over the Cats, the boys will take a lot of confidence out of that and hopefully we can bottle that and open it up against them (Hawthorn),” he said.

“We’ve definitely improved since then in every aspect – we’ve got a lot more confidence in running out games and a lot more chemistry out there, the boys are gelling really well.

“(We’ve) just come a long way since then.”
