HAWTHORN ruckman Ben McEvoy is in doubt for Sunday’s clash with GWS at the MCG with a corked hamstring.

McEvoy suffered a heavy knock to the back of his hamstring in the opening minutes of Saturday night’s loss to Port Adelaide and despite playing out the first half, was subbed out of the game at half time.

General Manager – Football Operations, Chris Fagan said the former Saint, who has played eight games for the Hawks is still feeling the effects of the injury.

“He’s still pretty sore, so it’s going to be touch and go as to whether he plays this weekend,” he told hawthornfc.com.au

“It depends on how much it improves over the next few days.”

Hawthorn has a seven-day break before taking on the Giants on Sunday, giving the big Hawk a few extra days to recover.

The Hawks will, however, have at least one change for Sunday’s game, with key forward Jarryd Roughead available after serving his one-week suspension for rough conduct.

Roughead missed the loss to the Power after being cited by the Match Review Panel for a hit on Sydney’s BenMcGlynn in the pre-bye Round 8 loss to the Swans.

Fagan said Roughead’s two-week break, which included the bye was actually a positive for the dual premiership player, who had a well-earned break.

“It’s actually been good for ‘Rough’, believe or not even though we would have liked to have had him on Saturday night,” he said.

“The break has been great for him to freshen up. He carries a heavy workload so he’s got a spring in his step at the moment and is very much looking forward to playing a game on the weekend.”

Meanwhile, Fagan said the returning Brad Sewell, who played his first game for the year against the Power pulled up well after being a solid contributor in the midfield.
