Hawthorn together with Starlight Children’s Foundation would like to thank all the generous contributors to the 2014 Hawks Heroes program.
There was an overwhelming response to our initiative, which saw 193 Hawthorn Football Club memberships donated to children and their families, which gave them the opportunity to watch the mighty Hawks live at the MCG.
The Chilcott family, who have been connected with Starlight for many years and are avid Hawks fans said the Hawks Hereos program was a shining light in their lives.
“The program has made a life that was riddled by sickness, brighter as our daughter can now start to enjoy some simple things in life that before she was unable due to sickness and cost," they said.
"We wish to say a big Thankyou to the generous people who made this happen because we as a family would never be able to afford it with the medical expenses and normal household expenses we have”
Donors to the program automatically went into the draw to win a #1 Fan experience during the 2014 season.
The lucky winner of the draw was Euan McTaggart who had the opportunity to be our #1 Fan in Round 20.
He was invited out to training at Waverley Park for a VIP experience where he ran water, chatted to Coach Alastair Clarkson and caught up with a few of the players for some footy tips.
In addition, Euan and his father were granted access to the changerooms pre-match to watch the players gear up for the clash against Melbourne at the MCG.
By providing opportunities through this program, it not only relieves the financial burden but also enables ill children and their parents to have fun as a family.
