AFL PLAYER manager Liam Pickering has insisted he is 'very confident' his client Lance Franklin will sign a new contract with Hawthorn.

Greater Western Sydney admitted this week it had opened talks with Pickering about luring the Hawks star north, with reports the club is set to offer a massive $12 million, six season contract at Franklin.

However, Pickering said the Giants had yet to offer anything, saying they were involved in preliminary talks only, before adding he believed Franklin would stay with Hawthorn.

"To be honest, there's only really one in it, which is Hawthorn," Pickering told SEN Radio on Saturday.

"They're the ones I've got the offer from and it's where he plays. The better they go, the more chance he is of staying, in my view.

"I'm very confident that he'll stay.

"At the moment I'm dealing with Hawthorn, and I have had discussions with the Giants obviously."

Pickering insisted he'll deal with GWS, saying Franklin won't speak with the club.
