In Round 9 the AFL celebrates Indigenous Round, recognising Indigenous Australians in the game.

Indigenous players make up 8.2 per cent of all AFL-listed players, with 67 players of Indigenous heritage representing AFL clubs.

Hawthorn has seven indigenous players on its list - Shaun Burgoyne, Amos Frank, Lance Franklin, Bradley Hill, Cyril Rioli, Jed Anderson and Derick Wanganeen.

To celebrate and commemorate the impact Indigenous players have had both on the AFL and on the Hawks, hawthornfc.com.au enlisted the help of Number One Female Ticket Holder, Helen Kapalos to host a special series of videos featuring each of our seven Indigenous players.

HawksTV will release one video per day by 5pm, featuring one or two of our players.

View a snaptshot of each video in the player above.

The Club hosts Gold Coast Suns at the MCG on Sunday in its Round 9 match. To honour Indigenous Round, Aunty Joy Murphy will be performing a Welcome to Country ceremony both on the ground and in the Club’s official President’s function.

All of Hawthorn’s Indigenous players will also be proudly wearing specially painted boots that reflect their heritage.
