GEELONG star Paul Chapman has been offered a one-match ban for rough conduct and could miss Friday night’s Preliminary Final against Hawthorn.
Chapman bumped Port Adelaide’s Robbie Gray high during the third quarter of Friday night’s Semi Final and has subsequently been slapped with a ban by the Match Review Panel on Monday.
The incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points).
That results in the classification of a level two offence, drawing 225 demerit points and a two-match sanction.
He has no existing good or bad record that impacts the sanction.
An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to 168.75 points and a one-match ban.
If Chapman and Geelong opt to challenge the ban at the AFL Tribunal, they will risk a two-week suspension.
They have until 11am on Tuesday to decide whether to accept or challenge.
Chapman has played only eight games this year, battling a hamstring injury for the majority of the season.
