A documentary featuring exciting Hawthorn youngster Jed Anderson will air on Wednesday night on NITV at 8.30pm.

Anderson was recruited from the Northern Territory via Greater Western Sydney as a pre-selected zone player during last season’s trade period, and has played four senior games in his debut season for the Hawks.

He played for NT Thunder in Darwin – an Australian Rules football team that represents Northern Territory in the NEAFL.

The documentary, Northern Lights goes behind-the-scenes with the NT Thunder for their 2011 season – a year in which they overcome hardship to play in the finals series.

It takes viewers into the heart of remote Aboriginal communities and schools where football is not just something to do, but it is a crucial part of community life.

Anderson features in the documentary as a talented 17-year-old with the aspiration and determination to make it onto an AFL list.

The team was founded by former Essendon champion Michael Long with the aim of assisting talented indigenous players reach their potential while promoting education, health and general well-being.

The documentary also features Long and former AFL and Adelaide Crows champion, Andrew McLeod.
