HAWTHORN star Lance Franklin has copped a one-week ban for rough conduct and will miss Friday night’s Qualifying Final against Sydney.

Franklin made high contact with Sydney defender Nick Malceski in the second quarter of Friday night’s match, and has subsequently been given a one-week suspension by the Match Review Panel.

The MRP assessed the incident as negligent conduct (one point), medium impact (two points) and high contact (two points).

It was classified as a level two offence, drawing 225 demerit points and a two-match sanction that can be reduced by 25 per cent with an early plea.

That would bring the points down to 168.75 points, a one-match ban and 68.75 carry-over points.

If he chooses to take the early plea, he will miss Friday night’s Qualifying Final, but will be available for selection for the Club’s remaining finals matches.

Franklin and the Club have until 11am tomorrow to make a decision on whether to accept or challenge the ban.

Meanwhile, skipper Luke Hodge has been fined for making reckless contact with an umpire during the match.

He can accept a $1950 fine with an early plea.
