HAWTHORN stars Grant Birchall and Jarryd Roughead are free to play in Saturday’s Grand Final, but the latter has been hit with a reprimand for his bump on Cameron Guthrie.

Roughead blocked Geelong’s Guthrie to clear the path for teammate Cyril Rioli during the last quarter of Friday night’s Preliminary Final, an incident which occurred off the ball but was captured by cameras.

The Hawks forward stepped into Guthrie’s path and collected him high, but the Geelong youngster played out the game.

Roughead has been charged with rough conduct, but can accept a reprimand and 93.75 carry-over points.

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report supplied from Geelong Football Club, the incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points).

That is a classification of a Level One Offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction.

He has no existing good or bad record and the early plea reduces it to a reprimand and 93.75 points.

Birchall was cleared of contact on Matthew Stokes, with the Match Review Panel deeming the bump to have been to the Geelong midfielder’s chest and contact predominantly to the football.

Both are free to play in the Grand Final against Fremantle.

No other charges have been laid from the two Preliminary Finals.
